This intricately hand-crafted Shakkyo Wakizashi. Hand forged and folded using T10 tool steel and 1045 steel with 3456 layers this katana is forged using the traditional Japanese method of Sanmai-kitae. This method uses a hard steel core in a soft steel jacket to improve overall shock absorption while cutting through hard materials. The handle is ray skin wrapped in traditional brown leather cord use hishigami. It also features a brass tsuba with gold plating, fuchi and kashira.

The Shirasaya has a long history in the art of Japanese sword smithing is used as blade storage before the blades have been fitted as well as in times of peace, to store ancestral blades and to display the fittings, sans sword. This shirasaya blade features is folded T-10/1045 steel blade with kobuse lamination, and a very active midare hamon .
The Ryu Kage features a Sanmai Lamination with high shinogi. The design of the Katana has been inspired by the swords of the Edo period. Swords from this period were as much status symbol as they were weapon, and some were quite ornate.The sword also features medium niku with high shinogi, so it’s a stylish and functional piece that could’ve taken on armor then and would cut bamboo easily now.
